Bringing it all up to date...well, my attempt to...

I am sorry for the absence. I was having a lot of health issues and it finally got to the point where updating the blog was just too much to bear looking at. I had my gall bladder removed the 2nd week in December and I am glad that I did. Then on into the holidays. I feel so much better today than I did a month ago!

Now, I am digging my way out from under the whole backlog of things to get done.

I thought I would start by updating the blog and let you all know what is going on. Not much right this second. I am merely regrouping my thoughts and planning my approach to digital scrapbook design in 2009.

I've decided that this year is going to be the year of FOCUS. I am going to have focus areas and those are the areas where I will work. These can change throughout the year, so don't be surprised. I have a lot of ideas swimming around in my head and it is time that they quit swimming and start gracing the digital world with their reality. So look forward to lots of new things from me this year! I can't wait to get started.

I'm on the search for more "visibility" in the digital world. I am not sure as to what this will entail as of right now. I just know I want to be seen more. I am currently looking at a variety of storefront options for selling my good. I'll keep you abreast as to what all transforms from these efforts.

The latest kit

My latest kit "Softly Winter" is now done!

This kit was designed as the digital add-on kit for the monthly kit club at The Shaker Box. As of right now, it has not been added to the store yet, but it should be available soon. I hear that there will be some changes coming soon over there, so keep an eye out for those.

Scrapping is therapeutic

I've spent some time scrapping as well. I still haven't finished my grandparents' Christmas gift, but I am working on it. That's what I've been working like a mad woman on. It is coming together nicely, but I'll be honest, I should have gotten started sooner. My goal is to have it finished by the end of the month.

Round 3 submitted

Well I've submitted my Round 3 Entry for the Digital Scrapbook Place Designer Finder Contest. That was hard work. We had to create specific elements to go with the papers created in Part 2 of Round 2. We had to create a bow with ties, frame, and flower. We also had to create a metal element (it could be one of the "must have" elements) or just one of the 8 required for the kit.

I'm running behind schedule...no surprise there...I have a lot of really good reasons. Life! That should explain it all.

My latest digital kit - Memory Lane

I am very pleased with the results of the work put into this kit. It is just beautiful (in my opinion, as humble as that might not be). The colors are deliciously autumn, but imagine the possibilities!

Lots of new stuff!

I've been busily working to get new stuff up. Unfortunately, Seaside Scraps has closed it doors forever so my products are currently only available at Dragonflaire Studios.

New paper packs:

This has been in the works for a while now, but I haven't had enough time to get it finished. It took off this past week. Simple but bold and showy is the purpose of this collection. When all parts are complete (yes, there is more to come) it will be called the "Wildflowers" collection. When the full collection is complete, you will still be able to get them individually or as a collection.

Resurrected kits:

While these are not new kits, they are being uploaded to my store as they never made it there when I moved to Dragonflaire Studios.

New quick pages:

I don't normally do quick pages, but I started these many months ago and finally finished them. I hope to complete some more with some of my larger kits soon so keep an eye out for them.

My latest paper pack

I am not 100% sure that this will always stay a paper pack as I've got some ideas for elements in my head, but I am releasing the papers right now. I really need to finish something right now - something other than homework and housework.

I just have to finish zipping up the pack and upload to the store. It will be found at Dragonflaire Studios.


It has come a long way from the preview I showed earlier. It contains 4 solid papers in the 4 different colors. There is a striped pattern in the 4 different colors as well as 2 muted versions of a couple of them (for those that like their colors a bit more toned down). Then it also includes 3 additional patterned papers in 4 different colors. All together there are 22 sheets of digital paper.

It has been a while since I have turned out new products, but the day has finally come. I have released 3 new paper packs - Array of Color - Blues, Two Shades of Purple, and Stormy Skies.

I have decided that I really need to focus some energy on some elements. I've been having a lot of fun doing papers, but I am getting that "itch" for elements. So look forward to finding more elements in my collection over the next 3-4 weeks.

Back from vacation

Our trip to Wisconsin was awesome! We all had a lot of fun. It is hard to get back into the groove after having an awesome vacation, so I've been slow in posting. I hope that over the next few weeks I'll get back into that groove as the kids' schedules return back to the "normal" schedules as they return to school.

In the meantime, I wanted to post about all the products that I have released since my last post. I am not sure how many of you saw them before we left, so here you go. . .

Sometimes we just need to get back to basics. I am a fan of the simple and clean lined. This is the first in a series of paper packs. I don't know where it came from, but I am glad that it came!

I don't know where my mojo came from the last few days, but I am grateful for its appearance and extremely glad that it came to visit. I hope it doesn't leave right away, I am kind of enjoying its company. I have been busy DESIGNING for the last 2 days and I am ready to unveil to the world what I've done.

Now, before you go saying "what about the other kit?" Don't panic, it is still there. . . it is even being worked on, BUT when the inspiration comes you just have to go with the flow. So my new "unnamed kit" as of yet is still unnamed though it is mostly finished, just a few more finishing touches left to do on it.

This kit is perfect for anyone who has boys! I should know, I've got 3. Got pictures of your children with hotwheels, trains, planes, and anything cars? Then scrap them! I plan on scrapping mine - I've got lots. It is perfect for all those road trip pictures. Been on vacation and what to share? Then scrap them!

And for what it is worth, this is NOT all. This is just the starter kit. It is a full kit, but it is just the start of things to come. I've got at least 3 more kits lined up to go with this, each specializing in a mode of transportation (cars, trucks, and trains). I have kept quiet long enough

I haven't blogged about this as I have just been too busy. I am bursting with joy right now, so I can't help it.

I had applied to 2 more online digital scrapbooking stores for designer positions. I was turned down by Digiscrappin.biz but was offered a position on their Element Team. Yes, I took the spot.

Then I got my email from The Daily Scrap. There was an initial mix up on the emails. I got another rejection. That was soon followed by a profuse apology, stating that I did in fact get the spot. I got the spot. I got the spot. I got the spot.

I was SO excited. Of course, it all came at a very BUSY BUSY BUSY time for me. Just crazy. A to-do list 10 miles long and growing. I decided I was taking the leap and accepted the position and submitted all the required stuff. How was I going to get the kits completed and ready for purchase and download?

WELL. . .

My first kit hit the mall today!!! YAY! YAY! YAY! I am so excited!

I am just delighted. I am excited. I will be working on getting some of the other kits ready for the mall as well. I can't believe it!

Good things are to come

I was asked the question, "How do you describe your scrapping style?" That is a hard question to answer in some ways, but in others it is SO EASY to answer. Simple! I am definitely a simple kind of person. I don't care for elaborate embellishments. I also prefer to have my pictures tell the stories. For me, it is all about the photos and what is going on in the photos. I journal where I have to, but I'd rather my pictures do the talking where they can. I have found that in a lot of ways, this carries over into the digital scrapbooking kits I am designing. I try to keep them simple. I also try to keep them fairly gender neutral. I do have 3 boys after all. I don't get a whole lot of use out of pink and ruffles.

I thought it was about time for me to share some more previews from my upcoming kits. I am not sure where I will release them just yet, but I am working on some leads. I am excited about them at any rate. I haven't used any of these myself, but I know that my friend and digital scrapbooker, Karen, can't wait to get her hands on these. In due time. . .

I couldn't leave the Gentle Blues kit series with just 1 kit, now could I? Another kit in the series that is sure to be fun for both girls and boys.

Patterns: Stripes and Argile

Papers: 5 solid, 2 patterned

Elements: 3 slide mounts, 2 ribbons, 2 rows straight stitching, diamond tiles (flower, plus extra tile colors) with stitched stem, 2 metal bookplates with tacks, and 2 eyelets

I bet you were starting to think that there was a trend in the shades of blues found in the Gentle Blues Kits. I did a total "Gotcha" with this kit. This kit took on a much warmer and earthy tone and feel. I think it is striking for both boys and girls.

Papers: 6 solid, 2 patterend, 3 curved/torn

Elements: 2 leather straps, 1 star buckle, 4 paper tags, 4 slide mounts/frames, and straight stitching

I am not 100% certain that these are the only elements that will be found in this kit. Still trying to decide if anything else will overdo the kit, or if we've reached the "enough is enough, already" point.

Now we're onto a kit that hasn't earned is elements yet. Don't let that fool you, this kit is rich with colorful papers. I don't know, maybe the papers will be the focus on this kit. Anything could go at this point.

Another preliminary preview

I initially started a kit call "Gentle Blues" it was supposed to be appropriate for a baby boy without being "baby-ish." The ideas started. The ideas kept coming. So fast they came. I couldn't keep up. It started off as a small kit and it quickly grew and grew and grew. Eventually (and rather quickly, I might add), it contained 25 different patterned papers. Scratch that single kit idea. I broke it down and ended up with the starts of at least 5 smaller (but good sized kits). Then the lull in the desire to complete them hit. The rutt in digital scrapbooking started.

I am pleased to announce that once I got past the initial kit (Stacey's Circles Kit), the ideas started flowing again. I really did scratch the entire "Gentle Blues" kit. I did. I had to. I started over fresh. Thus resulting in a series of kits called "Gentle Blues."

I am actually happy with the results thus far. The purpose of these kits are to contain the color BLUE and variations of blues, while also containing other complementary colors. My goal is to have kits that are simple and boyish, yet are universal. You won't find fancy frills in these kits. Maybe in some of my future kits, I'll venture off into the more frilly edges of the universe, but for now I am catering to my boys.
