I think I am making progress

I couldn't take it anymore. I finally just went and sat down at the PC simply to use Photoshop and Illustrator. Let me tell you I was suffering from serious withdraw! I was up until 2:45AM this morning as a result. BUT in all fairness. . . I did get something done while working way into the wee hours of the morning. Yay! I even got my MacBook Pro backed up to the backup drive (I think), so hopefully soon I will have Windows installed on there and can have Photoshop back again (at least until I can afford the CS3 suite).

I'll add the rest as I get them done today. I am working diligently!!! I hope to have them all done today.

Things I am thinking about doing. . .

I really need to get on the ball and get some gifts done.

Things I am thinking about doing:

  • Shutterfly book for my grandmother with the pictures from the family reunion in July. Nothing fancy, just slap the pictures in.

  • CD Case calendars with big pictures! I want it to be quick and mass reproduce-able. So, that meas I need to get my camera out and get the kids in at least matching shirts and shoot a TON of pictures. I mean, I need 12 pictures of the 3 of them together. I think it will be fun.

  • Custom calendars would be nice too. Little bit more work, but fun.

  • Travel Mugs? Design the inserts.

  • Checkbook Calendars. I found them for $1 at Michaels. I want to design covers for them for people.

There are things that are not scrapbook related that I want to try and accomplish. Two of the kids have asked for sweaters. *shrug* We live in Texas for crying out loud! But I do have a knitting machine so sweaters shouldn't be too difficult, right? We'll see. I also want to try and make a quilt or two.

There has been a lot of talk about Terms of Use lately

Since there has been a lot of talk about "terms of use" lately, I can't help but think about my own. Something I wanted to do is make it available to the general public as a way to share. I like the whole "know what you're getting before you buy it" concept. I know that doesn't make any guarantees about the quality of the product, but at least you'll know up front and center what you can and cannot use my products for. That's good, right?

Anyway, I am seriously considering widening the allowable uses of my products. The changes will be retroactive to all products available of mine. You will see any changes here on my blog. Until I make said changes, you can read my TOU below:

TERMS OF USE

This product was created by Stacey Sansom. You can find information about Stacey, specials, new products, and where to purchase products at Stacey's Digital Scrapbook Creations (http://digiscrapcreations.blogspot.com). I keep the list of where to buy my products updated on my blog, so if in doubt look there.

This product is for PERSONAL USE ONLY! This means that you may use it for your personal use. You may use it for any project that is not sold. You may scrap for yourself. You may scrap for others so long as you are not paid for the end product. This includes, but is not limited to: flyers, brochures, cards, etc. You may use this product to create items for others so long as they are given as gifts in either a flattened, single layer digital file (finished product) or printed format. This may also include using this product to create handouts, flyers, invitations, brochures, etc for churches, non-profit organizations, etc. Remember, you should not be paid to create the items for these said organizations and all end products should be either printed or single layer digital file.

If you are interested in a "SCRAP FOR HIRE" use of this product, please contact me at sasansom@yahoo.com and we will discuss the terms. This includes if you want to use this product to scrap other individual's pictures and memories as a paid service. If you are paid for an end product, it is a "scrap for hire" use and you need to contact me before you sell it.

If you are interested in "COMMERCIAL" use of this product, please contact me at sasansom@yahoo.com and we will discuss the terms. This includes using items to create other items that you will then turn around and sell as your own. I generally do not allow this use, but with the right incentives I am willing to consider it. Contact me.

If you are interested in "CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION" use of this product, please contact me at sasansom@yahoo.com. This includes if you want to advertise a charity or if you would like to offer an item or service using this product in an auction or fund raising type setting.

You MAY USE this product for as many scrapbook pages as you like. Do not feel you may only use this product one time in one layout or project. Create a whole album from this product. That is the beauty of digital - repeat use.

You MAY PRINT scrapbook pages or other projects using this product as many times as you like. If you need 10 copies of a particular item for a hybrid project, go for it! If you need 10 copies of the same layout to give as gifts to 10 different people, then print, print, print.

You MAY POST scrapbook pages using this product in as many online galleries as you see fit to post them in. Please give credit where credit is due. I like seeing my products in use. I do occasionally run across layouts using my products and it brings me great joy. I even leave comments in galleries where things are posted.

You MAY SUBMIT for publication in various magazines (digital, print, or otherwise). Just be sure to give credit where credit is due. State my name (Stacey Sansom) as the designer, the item used, and the product name where the item was found. If your submission is selected for publication, please let me know I would love to hear about it/see it. Email me at sasansom@yahoo.com and let me know about it.

PLEASE GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE! This credit includes stating my name (Stacey Sansom) as the designer, the items used, and the product name where used items were found. If you use a brad from "Kit A" state: "brad found in Kit A by Stacey Sansom." I'd appreciate if you also give some indication of where you purchased said product - either a store name and/or link or a link to my blog (http://digiscrapcreations.blogspot.com) is appropriate.

You MAY NOT REDISTRIBUTE this product. This includes digitally or otherwise. You MAY NOT resell this product in full or in part. If someone wants a copy of it, tell them where they can get their own copy. You MAY NOT distribute this product in full or in part via email, email lists, online groups, file sharing services, etc.

You MAY STORE this product on more than one saving device or computer so long as you own said device. I recommend that you make regular backups of all your digital scrapbooking goodies (layouts, kits, etc). You MAY NOT, however, store this item on a friend's computer or external hard drive (or any storage device that does not belong to you). If your friend or family member does not reside in your household and wants their own copy of this product, tell them where to find this product so that they may purchase their own copy.

You MAY USE this product for blog banners, web backgrounds or elements, etc. DO NOT SELL these items as this product (or any product) is FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY! This means that you can use this product on a personal, non-commercial website, blog, etc. If you want to use them where money will exchange hands, contact me at sasansom@yahoo.com first.

Happy Scrapping!

Stacey Sansom

I'll be back at it again

I know it has been at least a couple of months since I released a new product. I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be back at it again soon. We're in the process of trying to get Photoshop on my Mac running via VMFusion. Hopefully, it will run efficiently enough that I can get something DONE. I just haven't been able to do anything with Fireworks as it takes forever. It is not efficient at all on the Intel Macs. Keep your eyes open, I'll release something soon.

Big bummer

I found out last night that another designer will be quitting. There is nothing official yet, but I am sad. It just goes to show how difficult it can be to make it in this business. If I didn't love it, I wouldn't be doing it. It certainly doesn't pay the bills. I don't think that it ever will. Anyway, I am sad for my friend. I am sorry she'll be giving it up. On another note, I am happy that she's trying her hand at something else that hopefully she'll love and enjoy even more!

Hey, maybe I should recruit her for my Creative Team!

I had to do it!

They kept bugging me for an "about me" layout for the site at Dragonflaire Studios. I don't have many pictures of myself, so that was the first part of the challenge right there. I don't like the pictures I do have. That is another issue all together. It isn't so bad now that I have lost 20# but I am not glad to post pictures everywhere. I guess it just means that I'll have to update the page once I get newer pictures. The last part was "what do I do?" I didn't know! I started over at least 10 times.

This picture was taken in April by my son, Andrew. I like the picture simply because he took it! The papers in this layout are from my "Basic Shades" paper pack. The doodles are yet to be released. The font used is Bradley Hand.

The Shaker Box has a monthly kit club

A smaller site that many of you might not be aware of is The Shaker Box. It is a very friendly environment for both digital and traditional scrappers alike (and everything in between). If you haven't been there, you should go check it out.

They have started offering a "Monthly Kit Club." I just checked out the information on it and it is exciting stuff. The description says that it is full of stuff for all types of scrapbookers - digital, hybrid, and traditional paper. Interesting! Information about the kit club is on the front page of the site.

Check out this preview:

And that's just the preview. You can find the listing for the contents of September's kit here: http://theshakerbox.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=28
This thing is loaded with paper supplies!

I'm not 100% sure how it benefits us 100% digital girls, but I'll try to get some more information.

REMEMBER everything of mine is 25% off at Digi By Design.

Everything that is NOT at Digi By Design is also 25% off at both Dragonflaire Studios and Seaside Scraps through August 31, 2007.

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

The savings continue!

It didn't seem fair to only let those that regularly shop at Digi By Design get all of the savings. . . SO. . .

Everything in my shop at Dragonflaire Studios that is NOT in my shop at Digi By Design will be on sale for 25% off until August 31, 2007! That puts several items at Dragonflaire Studios at less than $1, including one of my newest releases!

I'm quitting and you save!

I told you that changes were coming for me in the whole digital scrapbook design aspects of life. It is official, I am giving up my spot at Digi By Design. I am consolidating my designing efforts into fewer stores as life is just too busy for me to keep up with the demands of 3 stores. As a result of this I am putting everything on sale before they close out my shop at Digi By Design on September 1, 2007.

EVERYTHING of mine at Digi By Design is on sale for 25% off through the end of day August 31, 2007! My shop!

Don't worry, I'll still be around. I am NOT giving up designing. I just need to lessen the stress and demands for the time being.

Another new one

I have decided that I really need to focus some energy on some elements. I've been having a lot of fun doing papers, but I am getting that "itch" for elements. So look forward to finding more elements in my collection over the next 3-4 weeks.

My latest paper pack, "Array of Color":

Back from vacation

Our trip to Wisconsin was awesome! We all had a lot of fun. It is hard to get back into the groove after having an awesome vacation, so I've been slow in posting. I hope that over the next few weeks I'll get back into that groove as the kids' schedules return back to the "normal" schedules as they return to school.

In the meantime, I wanted to post about all the products that I have released since my last post. I am not sure how many of you saw them before we left, so here you go. . .

Get started on your holiday creations

Don't let the holidays sneak up on you, go ahead and get a head start on all those wonderful holiday creations. Gifts are no problem with these basic paper packs.

"Holiday in Red" and "Holiday in Green" are available at:
Dragonflaire Studios
Digi By Design
Seaside Scraps

Get back to basics

Sometimes we just need to get back to basics. I am a fan of the simple and clean lined. This is the first in a series of paper packs. Currently, they are just paper packs, but over time I'll probably add some elements separately. "Basic Shades" is coming soon to a digital scrapbooking store near you!

"Basic Shades" will be available at:
Dragonflaire Studios
Digi By Design
Seaside Scraps

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone is enjoying their 4th of July holidays and eating lots of BBQ and gorging themselves on potato salad and all the fixings. . . what else would you do on 4th of July? *innocent look* We're not doing a whole lot, actually. We'll probably do some bratwurst. My husband is taking the two older boys to see Transformers. I think I'll head to the store and get some hot dog buns while they are gone. If it doesn't rain, there will likely be some yard work that is done today. I need to get some design work done. Just not a whole lot going on. The weather is too yucky for too much to be happening. We're getting rain, yet again!

I'm having a sale!

BUT WHAT WOULD THE 4th OF JULY BE WITHOUT A SALE??? Well, it would still be the 4th of July. It would still be Independence Day in the US. It would even still be Wednesday this year. BUT in honor of the 4th of July, we're having a big sale over at Digi By Design.

Here is the 411 on the sale at Digi By Design:

4th of July Day Sale!!! Let the fireworks begin at www.digibydesign.com!
Tuesday July 3rd - Wednesday July 4th -Thursday June 5th
20- 30% off Most Items

What is on sale in my section of the store? EVERYTHING! I have items marked down 30% so go SHOP SHOP SHOP! I'll tell you a little secret. . . there are things that are less than $0.70 in the store right now. Yep, you'll be getting a steal of a deal - literally, once PayPal gets done with me. BUT GO SHOP SHOP SHOP anyway!!! You can get my things here.

Don't forget that I am giving away a paper pack. Just giving it away to the first 100 people. See my previous post.

Other Digital Scrapbook Musings

I am sponsoring the Shakerbox site this month! Yep, I am one of the sponsors for the Shakerbox Jumpin' July crop. I am not sure how many they have, but I am one of them. The event runs from July 5-9, 2007. It should be interesting. I am offering up freebies and likely a coupon. You should check it out and see what is going on over at the Shakerbox.

Creative Team Thoughts

I am starting to think that it is time to have a full Creative Team. I am not 100% certain that I want a large one. I am pretty sure I do not want to do a full blown call for a team. So here I sit trying to figure out how to get a "small" team without even doing a call. I suppose I could just got and start hand picking one by one. But I thought I'd post here and see if I get any responses! So if you're interested, PM me at DigiShopTalk (I'm 4guysandme). You can also sport my "Fan of Stacey Sansom" blinkie and if I see it, I'll check out your gallery.

Need some color?

My latest creation is just a "Splash of Color." Bright and vibrant and everything in between. There is no rhyme or reason for these colors, they are just solid colors because sometimes you need something a little random.

Because this is such a random thing. . . I am offering the first 100 people here on my blog the paper pack for free! Yes, you read that right, 100 people get it free! Free! FREE!

All Gone!

Once "Splash of Color" has been downloaded 100 times, it will then be added to the 3 stores I sell in! So TRY TO GET IT WHILE YOU CAN!

I've been at it again!

One new kit coming soon wasn't enough. I had to go and create a 2nd one that is coming soon. It was another hard one to name. I have decided that I just have a problem naming the kits when the ideas come easily. They aren't so hard to name when I spend 2-3 months working on a kit. It is the quick ones that really get me.

Check out "Flowers in the Sun":
"Flowers in the Sun" will be available within the next few days at Dragonflaire Studios, Seaside Scraps, and Digi by Design.

Sunday, June 10, 2007

New kit coming soon!

I have been busy working on a new kit the past few days. It has been a real challenge because I do not have Photoshop installed on my Mac yet. I installed the trial for Photoshop Elements 3. Yeah, I know it is an old version, but it was the only trial I could find for PSE. So between Fireworks and Photoshop Elements, I have managed to put together a simple kit. That was the goal. Simple! I think I have accomplished that. It is time for me to call it done.

I'll have it uploaded to my 3 stores soon (Dragonflaire Studios, Seaside Scraps, and Digi by Design). One of them is in the process of a server move so I will upload them to each store the same day. Besides, I still have to figure out how I am going to price it. That might be important! But I am excited about it.

You are my Hero

A casual walk through

So this evening I walked through the local scrapbook store that is just a couple of doors down from the kids' karate place. They were open and it is getting too hot to sit in the car and scrap on my computer like I usually do. Since I arrived at the karate place early, I thought I'd just wander through the scrapbook store and have a "browse" before I head in to sit with my laptop at the karate place. That's where I am now. Great idea! I have to say, I was rather bored. It was a crowded little shop. At least the isles at Hobby Lobby or Wal-mart or Michael's aren't this crowded! I wanted to just touch the paper. Touch it. Feel it. The whole texture thing.

I had previously talked to a friend of ours about how much it would set me back to print some of these digital designs I spend so much time on. He owns a printing business. He was talking a textured linen paper. Higher end, etc. I need to sit down with him with a couple of papers that are typical for scrapbooking and just have a discussion with him about the whole thing. The whole this is what I need/want conversation. Unfortunately, you can't get by with less than runs of 1000 sheets. Yikes! You'd have to be willing to (1) set down some cash and (2) be prepared to bite the loss if it doesn't sell. At least, that would be the case for a whole paper pack. I'll have to keep thinking about that some. Get more details. It was my husband's crazy thought for me to talk to this friend in the first place.

I have another friend of ours who used to own some paper scrapbook stores a few years ago. I need to talk to her about things too. She wants me to show her how to do the whole digital scrapbooking thing. I am excited about that. I will have to get with her soon. But looking at it from a designer standpoint. . . I want to know what it takes to get into the stores and other things. You never know, I might venture and partner with her in something of this nature on a digital level. I don't know. Just thinking out loud here. I haven't talked to her about what she did and how she did it, etc. I need to have that conversation before I have crazy thoughts about other possible ventures.

But I have digressed from the whole local scrapbook store adventure I had this evening. I didn't feel any pangs of lust and desire when I was in there. I didn't feel the need to buy anything. I didn't see any spectacular papers that I just had to have. I found some solids that had some very nice texture to them. I just wasn't super impressed. I don't know if it was that particular store or if I have officially lost all desire to scrapbook in the "traditional paper" format.

The realization is that I really do enjoy what I do - digitally! I LOVE IT! Digital is the way to go! I was looking at the papers and the kits and stickers and embellishments and the alphas and. . . and. . . and. . . I was delighted with my own creations. I do create things that people want even if they don't sell well yet. I really need to get some serious marketing going on. I think Kat needs to really do some market research for me and find out where and when to advertise and whatnot. She is my lone Creative Team member and has been appointed my Creative Director.

I walked into a scrapbook store and did not buy one single thing. *doing the digital happy dance*

On June 1, 2007 Dragonflaire Studios will be open for business. That's tomorrow for all those who have no earthly idea what day today is. Today, the designers are all feverishly uploading their products to the new store. Well, at least I was. I am very excited about all this! I couldn't wait to get things up today.

There are exciting things happening for Grand Opening! We will be having scavenger hunts, drawings for FREE ACDSee software package, free template give-aways, and challenges galore. You might even see some of my freebies in all this. You all know that I don't give those away very often. You only have to spend $15 to be put in the drawing for one of the software packages! That's 1 entry per purchase over $15, so come shopping lots of times!

You might think that it is odd that nothing is on sale. Well, it is. Go ahead and load your shopping carts! When you get to the checkout counter, enter the code "GO115" and you will receive 25% OFF your TOTAL PURCHASE! This coupon code is good from June 1, 2007 until June 15, 2007. You may use this coupon code up to 10 times!!! So keep checking for new items that will probably continue to be uploaded over the next couple of weeks.

Even the digital scrapbooking world is small

I would have to say that in working with Sally at Dragonflaire Studios, I have found out how small the world can be. Sally only lives about 45 minutes from me! Considering this is a huge metropolitan area, that makes us neighbors! We'll have to meet up for lunch or something somewhere in the middle one day - soon!

I have a new paper pack

I have almost completed another paper pack. I am excited as this pack has been several months in the making. I got side tracked and came back to it. I am done with the pack itself, just need to package it up.

Sorry. . . NO PREVIEW. . . at least NOT YET! You can see it June 1, 2007 when you go check out the new Dragonflaire Studios.

Lots of exciting stuff going on during the Grand Opening of Dragonflaire Studios. Lots of great prizes for the Grand Opening events. I'll even be giving away some freebies. You know I don't do that often. Of course you'll have to search for them. Yep, you have to work for your freebies!

So be sure to come by and check us out on June 1, 2007!!!

Need to get busy

I really need to get busy designing. I have managed to get some scrapping done, but haven't done anymore designing. I have some things started. I just need to work on them and get them finished. Getting motivated isn't always easy. It doesn't help that I am a busy person to begin with. I have been enjoying my couple of weeks off from school and just getting caught up on a thing here and a thing there.

It is official. . . Digi by Design had its Grand Opening celebrations on May 20, 2007. It is a nice little site and has great potential. I am excited to be a part of it.

I have managed to get most of my stuff uploaded to both Digi by Design and Seaside Scraps. I still have a couple of things to get uploaded to both stores, but I am working on it a little at a time. Hopefully soon you'll also be able to see some new stuff.

Dragonflaire Studios is having its Grand Opening events on June 1, 2007. This looks to be something for everyone. I am very excited to be involved in this. All my friends who are paper scrappers and reading this because they like me, there is something at Dragonflaire Studios for you. For those of you who are thinking about converting to digital but are not certain you want to take the 100% plunge, there is something at Dragonflaire Studios for you. So everyone should keep their eyes open for something more to come.

I am waiting patiently for my 2nd issue of Digital Scrapbooking Magazine. The subscription services on this thing have been a serious disappointment. The price was good, but the timeliness is something to be desired. I've heard that many who have already gotten the 2nd issue are not all that impressed with the content.

I've been a busy little bee and other ramblings

I have been extremely busy the past couple of weeks. The whole fiasco at The Daily Scrap just came at the wrong time. It was the end of the semester/term crunch time and let us just say that it was a wee bit stressful. Fortunately, The Daily Scrap is gone. It is GONE GONE GONE! It doesn't make it any easier for us designers, but it is a chance to just pick up the pieces and move on. I am still very angry at Kristi Reever for being such a dishonest business person. My energy is best spent focusing on designing and scrapping.

Part of my "moving on" was disassociating myself with Kristi in anyway. It meant that I could no longer emotionally afford to put any more effort or patience into the Digi Diner. I just couldn't. Kristi was also a designer at Digi Diner and I couldn't stick around and be associated with her in anyway. To me, it just wasn't a good business decision to stay. It wasn't a good emotional choice to stay. So I have moved on. I do wish the owners of Digi Diner well and hope that maybe one day it will be the site that it has the potential to become. If you haven't checked it out, you should. It has a cute concept and I do hope that it will continue to grow that concept.

Part of the "moving on" is setting up shop in my new stores. I am grateful to all the stores that offered all of the displaced designers from The Daily Scrap. Those kind gestures truly show the true heart of the digital scrapbooking community. You guys are all wonderful. The opportunites were all wonderful. Unfortunately, it was a hard decision to make. It wasn't easy to pick one store over another. Somehow, I did, however. I had to. It wasn't easy. I pretty much just decided to jump in feet first and hope that it wasn't another shallow promised store. I signed with 3 stores and while I am not in all 3 yet, the third store is coming soon.

Coming soon and keep looking!

You already know that I've got products up at Seaside Scraps. It is slow going. I have to repackage everything. You'd think that would be quick and easy, but it isn't so when you've got 10,000,000 other things to be doing. That said, I have started uploading kits to Digi by Design. I've also added another kit to my selection at Seaside Scraps. You will now find "Faded Romance" and "Lime-ade" at Digi by Design. I hear that the official Grand Opening is coming soon. . . like really soon. . . keep your eyes open for information on that.

I've been busy scrapping!

I guess the most important thing right now is that I've found time to scrap pictures of my kids. It is slow going. Gosh, I am out of practice. I need to keep doing this and see if I can increase the speed any. I think part of the slowness is because I am finding it hard to scrap with my own stuff. That was my goal for this year and I am going to do it. I have had a blast since Sunday (Mother's Day) just scrapping stuff instead of stressing over other stuff. Check these layouts out!
